LA City Councilmember Traci Park’s Vision for a Safer Council District 11

LA crime spike

A Safer 11 for a Better 11 is a new public safety package designed to enhance security across LA City Council District 11 (CD11).

This initiative focuses on reducing crime and creating safer streets, beaches, libraries, and homeless housing sites, aiming to protect both residents and businesses in the community.

What You Need to Know

The A Safer 11 for a Better 11 plan includes five key initiatives:

  • Automated License Plate Readers (ALPERs): Strategically placed throughout the district, these devices will help LAPD respond to crimes in real time.
  • LAPD Overtime Funding: Additional resources to increase police presence and response capabilities during peak crime periods.
  • Improved Visibility and Lighting: Supplemental tree-trimming services to reduce blind spots on streets, enhancing safety for pedestrians and vehicles.
  • Library Safety Measures: A comprehensive reassessment of security protocols in CD11 libraries.
  • Venice Beach Park Rangers: Dedicated officers to patrol the Venice Boardwalk and ensure public safety.

These measures represent a significant investment in community safety, emphasizing collaboration among law enforcement, local leaders, and residents.

How It Impacts You

Enhanced public safety measures in CD11 can make neighborhoods more appealing to tenants and businesses, leading to higher occupancy rates. These improvements are also likely to attract more visitors and patrons to local businesses.

Better lighting and an increased law enforcement presence can help reduce property crimes, such as vandalism and theft.

Councilmember Park’s visible commitment to safety fosters trust and collaboration among property owners, tenants, and city officials, strengthening the community as a whole.

Looking Forward

We are excited by the consensus of voters for a stronger public safety focus, exemplified by the passage of Prop 36 and Nathan Hochman’s swearing in as Los Angeles County District Attorney.

This momentum aligns with Councilmember Traci Park's "A Safer 11 for a Better 11" plan, which is designed to enhance safety across CD11.

We look forward to seeing how these efforts work together to create a safer environment for both residents and businesses.
