BOMA Cal released a 2024 voting record of California senators and assemblymembers on the top three bills impacting the commercial real estate industry.

The 2024 California legislative session included votes on three significant bills that could negatively affect the commercial real estate industry: 

Assembly Bill 98 (AB 98) - SIGNED INTO LAW: Proposes strict zoning restrictions on logistics and truck routes, potentially disrupting economic growth and complicating transportation operations. 

Senate Bill 1103 (SB 1103) - SIGNED INTO LAW: Extends residential tenant protections to commercial leases, which may increase financial risks for property owners. 

Assembly Bill 2364 (AB 2364) - SIGNED INTO LAW: Sets stringent quotas and training requirements for janitorial workers, raising operational costs with limited benefits.
