Who is Running for California’s Senate Seat?
With the election just under ten months away, US Senate candidates from California had their first debate.Â
The race includes five candidates from all over the state competing to take over the late Dianne Feinstein’s seat.Â
Who’s In the Race?Â
Although the debate included only four candidates, five people are vying to be the next US Senator from California.Â
The five candidates include:Â
- Rep. Adam SchiffÂ
- Rep. Katie PorterÂ
- Rep. Barbara Lee
- Eric EarlyÂ
- Steve GarveyÂ
So, who are candidates?Â
Rep. Adam SchiffÂ
Adam Schiff is currently a member of Congress, representing California’s 30th district. He made a name in the House of Representatives by leading the First House Impeachment Inquiry and Trial of former President Trump.Â
As a senator, his main priorities include:Â
- Making Childcare AffordableÂ
- Increasing Competition and Reducing CostsÂ
- Creating a Robust Care EconomyÂ
- Making our Tax System FairerÂ
- Expanding the Social Safety Net for Vulnerable FamiliesÂ

Rep. Katie PorterÂ
Katie Porter is currently a member of Congress, representing California’s 47th district. She was first elected in 2018 and has been the top-performing Democrat in a traditional Republican Orange County.Â

- Climate Action

Eric EarlyÂ
Eric Early is a co-owner and Managing Partner of a law firm. Early was the only candidate to not appear on the debate stage. His endorsements include many of the local GOP chambers in California.Â
As a senator, Early’s priorities would include:Â

Steve GarveyÂ
Steve Garvey is a former baseball player for the Los Angeles Dodgers. In his post-baseball career, he has been a champion for those disabled or suffering from disease. He has assisted in causes such as diabetes, Special Olympics, Multiple Sclerosis, and ALS.Â
Steve’s priorities as a senator would include:Â
